Grit to gloss, street to penthouse, everyday people to iced out celebs, Joshua “Javad” Moore’s specialty is versatile, memorable images with a strong urban point of view. Whether shooting cutting edge fashion spreads for magazines like Wad (French), The Face (U.K.), The Source, or Bridges (U.S.), journalistic street scenes in New York and Miami, or music industry photos that capture the lyricism of emergent artists, Javad’s images are united by their trendsetting iconoclasm. Smashing the barriers between high-gloss commercial photography and feature photos, Javad’s pictures have accompanied magazine profiles of rappers Lil’ Kim, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, political figures like Al Sharpton and businessmen like Miami-based record producer Scott Storch. His photos have appeared in mainstream publications including Blow, Fader, Slam, Vibe, and have been used by global music companies including Sony BMG, Warner Music, Elektra Records and UBO.com. Moore marries an eclectic viewpoint with crisp professionalism to deliver eye-catching photos on-time, under budget, via email or courier. With over decade of experience, Moore has established an innovative network of producers, photo editors, fashion stylists, make-up artists, hair stylists, set designers, and art directors to work on projects large and small. Javad graduated from Pratt Institute in New York with a BFA in media arts in 2000 and studied photography at Bard College and the Media Arts at the Art Institute of Boston. He also apprenticed under some of the most influential professionals in the industry including fashion photographer and photojournalist Larry Fink, and assisted leading fashion shooters Thomas Schenk, Tom Monroe, and Alexi Hay on campaigns for The GAP, Banana Republic and Levis Jeans. Javad believes images should defy petty lines, cross boundaries, smash stylistic convention, and mesh high and low. Born in the Virgin Islands, Javad’s nomadic childhood took him through eight different states and six nations. Javad’s images are portals onto a dynamic world that we all know intimately, yet find nowhere outside of his unique frame.
