The renowned Jasper Park Lodge opened in 1921 in Jasper, Alberta to challenge the CPR's Banff Springs Hotel.

First established in 1915 as a "Tent City," in association with the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. In 1921 eight bungalows were constructed to accommodate the guests. More cabins and the main lodge were started in 1923. By that time, operating under the management of Canadian National Hotels, several additions have been made to it since. The lodge was later sold to the Canadian Pacific Hotels and now operates as Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

The Lodge (locally known as "JPL" or "The Lodge" ) is situated on the shores of Lac Beauvert. It features an 18 hole golf course, hiking and cross-country ski trails, world-class cuisine, and has earned a 5-star rating.
