Jason King (radio)

Jason "JK" King (born Jason Griffiths, 6 January 1975 in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, England) is a British radio DJ. Along with Joel Ross, he presents the coveted UK Top 40 and early breakfast slot (Mon - Thurs) on BBC Radio 1. As a young child he lived on a dairy farm with his family.

The duo were the winners of three Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2005; a Gold for 'Breakfast Show Of The Year' and a Silver for 'Entertainment Show'. The pair first came together on Viking FM in Hull when Joel moved from the afternoon show he was hosting to join JK on breakfast. JK had become breakfast show host in 1998 after two years on the lunchtime slot, while also hosting a weekend dance music programme called Club 969.

On television, the boys have presented Playboyz, a fast moving gadget series for Granada Men and Motors and Motor Maniacs, a series dedicated to men obsessed with bikes and cars. Most recently, they have been the hosts of the Pure Soap on BBC3, a daily 30 minute live show looking at all things to do with soap operas.

Away from radio, JK is a football fan and an animal lover. A farmer's son, his initial ambitions were to work for the RSPCA. He is dating former Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw.

JK took part in the Channel 4 series The Games where he finished third . He recently appeared on Celebrity Poker, but has since said that he "won't be appearing on any more reality shows as I've been on too many"

The other Jason King was born 24th October 1969 in Banbury Oxfordshire and is also a British radio DJ.

His career started at Beacon Radio in Wolverhampton back in 1989 where he stayed until 1995 before moving to Oxford and Fox FM for 18 months, then it was onto Bedford and the breakfast show at B97 Chiltern FM from 1997-1998. After that Jason joined BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) and was posted to Germany initially to present the drivetime show before moving to breakfast. During his 2 year term with BFBS he did a 3 month detachment to BFBS Kosovo and became one of the first presenters to front a daily show live from the capital Pristina.

In 2000 Jason joined 106 Century FM in Nottingham his home for five years before moving across town to 96 Trent FM to present the afternoon show for 18 months. At the start of 2007 Jason moved to Manchester and is now on air weekday mornings at Key 103 - Which initially caused alot of confusion as the other Jason King (JK) used to present the breakfast show at Key 103.
