Jason Hamacher

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jason Hamacher is an American musician. He was the drummer for the bands Frodus and Decahedron and the mid-1990s straight-edge band Battery. He also sang under the pseudonym Ponan for the Washington, DC spazzcore band (Part Man... Part Pancake...) Mancake, which released an EP on Art-Monk Construction in 1999 entitled We will destroy you. Aside from music, Jason Hamacher is an accomplished photographer that is working on documenting ancient Syrian monasteries. His current documentation project also extends to audio-recordings of early christian chants and songs in Aramaic.

Although he has stayed far quieter in the music scene than former bandmate Shelby Cinca, he posted writing for a metal 'dream band' on his blog: 'I finally started writing songs with my dream band. I'm calling it Zealot. The line up is: Mike Schliebaum (Darkest Hour) on guitar, Dimitri Minakakis (Dillinger Escape Plan) vocals, Nate Newton and Kurt Ballou (Converge) on Bass and Guitar. So far Mike and I have written one song that sounds like Entombed. It gets pretty heavy. It'll be good times.'

He is married and lives in the Washington DC area and is a successful massage therapist working for a chain of spas started by Vidal Sassoon's son, Elan.
