[edit] Biography

[edit] Early life

Cruz was "just a little punk rock kid" growing up, a self-proclaimed "product of the 80's skate wave." He began playing with Strung Out in 1992 in Southern California.

Jason's major influences include classic artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan. He has said that he was influenced by the melancholy melody of music that his mother used to listen to when he was growing up, "really bad, sad sounding music." [1] The first concert he ever went to was Depeche Mode in 1986 when he was 13 years old.

Jason was briefly a tattoo artist. He worked in a now-defunct tattoo shop called Twizted By Dezign Studios in Los Angeles, CA for a short time, and has done several tattoos for his fellow bandmates in Strung Out.

In addition to being a song writer, musician, and artist, he has also published 3 original poems, which can be found in the collection entitled Revolution On Canvas: Poetry From The Indie Music Scene. [2]

Jason currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
