Jared Cohon

Jared Leigh Cohon is the current President of Carnegie Mellon University. He became the 8th President in July 1997.

He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT, earned in 1972 and 1973 respectively.

In the 1980s, under the name Clivus Jivus he was a member of The New Crusty Nostrils and the Exotic Naselles, a rock band at Johns Hopkins University.

In previous on-air interviews with WRCT sportscasters, Cohon has acknowledged Sportsline, Carnegie Mellon's sports talk show, to be among his favorite radio programming in Pittsburgh.
