Jared Scot Allen [1](born April 3, 1982 in Los Gatos, California) is an American football player who currently plays defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs. He started 33 of 41 games during his career at Idaho State University. The four-time All-Big Sky Conference selection finished his career with 250 tackles, 38.5 sacks, 73 stops for losses, seven fumble recoveries, 3 touchdowns, 13 forced fumbles, three interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and a blocked kick. He was drafted in the 2004 NFL Draft by Kansas City and signed a three-year contract with the team.

It has been reported by several sources that Allen, having not received a contract extension offer from the Kansas City Chiefs as of 3/3/07, is seeking a trade. Allen is a restricted free agent, and the Chiefs have reportedly refused his request, so it is likely the Chiefs will seek compensation if Allen is traded.

  • In the NBC Sunday Night Football player introductions on December 17, 2006, Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers game, in a tradition carried over from Monday Night Football where the starters introduce themselves with name and school attended, Jared Allen said, "Home schooled, thanks mom." • Allen frequently discredits Idaho State University as being his his former university/school, often stating instead, where he attended elementary school, high school, or even fabricating that he was "home schooled", as he proclaimed during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers game on December 17, 2006.
  • As a youth, Allen competed in several junior rodeos in the calf-roping and steer-riding events. Allen also grew up reining horses and currently owns three riding horses. Once his NFL career is over he plans on returning to the rodeo to compete in steer-wrestling. [2]
