How many ryō in a koku? I am reading a document right now that stipulates that at a certain point in the Edo period, the Morioka han was producing roughly 500,000 ryō per year (Gross Han Product). How many koku was the han worth? How are these concepts related? Thanks to anyone who can help with this. (and if there is a direct relationship, it should be added to the article, ne?) - I would imagine it would depend on which period you're talking about. The value of the ryō gradually declined, thus, the value of a koku in ryō would, presumably, have gradually increased. I suspect there probably was a standard rate at any given time, though Nik42 04:16, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
