J. Angelo Racoma

J. Angelo Racoma is a full-time professional blogger, tech evangelist and new media consultant. His past life involved working as an economist for the Philippine Government's National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and as an exec with domain registry and webservice company dotPH. His short stint with Government afforded him many useful insights on how the bureaucracy is managed, especially from macroeconomic and public investment points of view. His even shorter stint with dotPH opened his eyes to the vast potentials of the Internet as an empowering tool for development.

Having a passion for writing since his more youthful days, Angelo has been active in the online community from the time he operated his own Bulletin Board System (the Cyber County BBS) in the mid-1990’s, then moving on to active participation in online tech forums, and now authoring his own technology-oriented weblog (or blog), the J Spot, which he started late 2003. He also contributes to various Philippine-oriented online publications including Pinoy.Tech.Blog, Pinoy Urban Blog, Sun.Star Blog Chronicles, Pinoy Teachers Network, and the Man Blog. He also writes on miscellaneous topics on his personal, experimental site, the J Spotter.

Angelo also provides tech content for blog networks, having briefly written for BlogMedia, Inc. (MobileHerald and Gadzooki) and then the Bloggy Network with its flagship blogs the Apple Gazette, ForeverGeek.com, and Blogging Pro, and gadget/theme blogs bmonitors.com, btelevisions.com, blaptops.com, bcellphones.com, bplaystation3.com, and bdigitalcameras.com. He also served as a consultant with Enthropia, Inc. as liaison with traditional and new media outfits, and managing content-related projects.

Angelo is currently the Assistant Editor of the Blog Herald

Angelo's latest advocacy is the PayPal for the Philippines campaign, which is lobbying for full PayPal support in the Philippines, a move, he believes, will greatly benefit the country's economy.

Angelo is married to educator Caren Marie Guevara, with whom he has two daughters, Sofia Bernice and Agatha Clarisse.
