Janusz Meissner, 1st Lt. Herbert (January 21, 1901-February 28, 1978), aviator, writer and soldier.

Absolvent of pilots school in 1919. In 1929-1946 he served in air force. To 1939 pilot chief in Wyższa Szkoła Oficerska Sił Powietrznych. Since 1944 officer in RAF. In 1946 he return to Poland to live in Zakopane. In 1956 he moved to Kraków where he died.

Father of two sons: Andrzej and Jerzy.

Author of popular marine and aviation books.
