- 1905 – New York Central and Hudson River Railway officially takes control of Ottawa and New York Railway.[1]
- 1930 – Trains begin using the new elevated tracks and platform at Toronto Union Station (pictured).[2]

- 2003 – The driver of a southbound passenger train in Australia suffers a heart attack and dies, leading to the deaths of 6 passengers in the Waterfall train disaster.
- 2005 – Regular Metrolink passenger service is restored through Glendale, California, the scene of the previous week's Glendale train crash.
