Jang

Jang can refer to:

  • A word originating from India and South Africa, meaning either the act of passing stool or the faeces itself. It is usually, but not necessarily, used in reference to humans (not animals). Although it is primarily used informally, it is not considered obscene.
  • A medium-high rank amongst the titles which the Nizam of Hyderabad, a great Muslim vassal of the Mughal Padshah, awarded to ennobled Muslim retainers, above Khan (the lowest), Khan Bahadur and Nawab but under Daula, Malik, Umara and Jah (the highest); the equivalent for Hindu retainers was Raja Rai Bahadur
  • The Jang group, which owns publications including the Urdu-language market-leader, Daily Jang
