Janet Kennedy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Janet Kennedy (c. 1480 – c. 1545) was a mistress of King James IV of Scotland and the older daughter of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy and Lady Elizabeth Seton. Her younger sister was Margaret Kennedy.
Originally the wife or mistress of the formidable Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus, she attracted the attention of King James IV around 1497.
She bore the King three children, including James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray (1501 creation). The other two died young.
The King's marriage to Margaret Tudor in 1503 had little effect on their relationship, which seems to have continued until the king's death a few years later.
