Jane McDonald who was born on 4 April 1963 in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, is an English singer and television personality, who first became famous after appearing in the 1998 television series, The Cruise.
Her wedding to Henrik Brixen in 1998 was televised by the BBC and watched by a large audience, although the couple have recently divorced.
After signing a major-label recording contract, McDonald began to carve out a mainsteam Showbiz career, first as a guest presenter on BBC's National Lottery and subsequently with her debut album Jane McDonald which spent three weeks at number 1 in the UK Top 40 chart.
In 2000, McDonald released her autobiography Follow your dreams published by Harper Collins.
In 2002, McDonald appeared in a run of Romeo and Juliet - The musical at the Piccadilly Theatre in London's glittering West end.
In 2006 she began a tour, which featured a choir of 150 people. The last date of the tour was 2nd November 2006. Although her frequent tv appearances gained her a loyal audience particularly in the gay community, this did not translate into ticket sales and various shows had to be cancelled.
A new tour and album from Jane is expected in 2008.
