Jane Hutt

Jane Hutt (born 1949) is a Welsh Labour politician and a minister in the Welsh Assembly Government, and a Welsh Assembly member for the Vale of Glamorgan.

Hutt held non-political appointments as director of the equal opportunities organisation Chwarae Teg and non-executive director of the Cardiff Community Health Care Trust. She was a councillor on South Glamorgan County Council.

Hutt was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in 1999 and immediately becoming Health Minister. Despite frequent criticism from the health sector, she remained in post until January 2005, when she was moved to become Minister for Assembly Business, Children, Equality and Equality of Opportunity.
