Jan Willem Bowdewyn Gunning

Jan Willem Bowdewyn Gunning (September 3, 1860 - June 23, 1913) was a South African zoologist and Director of the Transvaal Museum from 1896 to 1912. He founded the Pretoria National Zoo and was co-founder of the African Ornithologists' Union.
His commemorated in the binomial name of the East Coast Akalat Sheppardia gunningi.
