Jan Morgenstern

Jan Morgenstern is a German composer and musician who is best known for his composing work for the soundtrack of the 2006 short film Elephants Dream. He has also composed for various products, such work involving creating demos for Quantum Leap Colossus, a virtual sound set, and Kontakt 2, a virtual instrument set by Native Instruments.

His first entry into the realm of music came when he took up piano lessons at age 8; six years later at age 14 he played drums for a jazz big band. He first had contact with MIDI equipment at age 16. After this, he began to compose for various small video games. He also began extensive studies in music theory, orchestration, and the history of music. He started studying audio engineering in Hamburg, Germany, at age 19. In 2001, he graduated with a diploma; 2003 brought about the creation of wavemage, an audio production company. He is currently working out of Lüneburg, in Northern Germany.
