Jan Brittin

Janette Ann Brittin, usually known as Jan (born 4 July 1959 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey) was an England cricketer. She batted right-handed and bowled right-arm off-spin.

Brittin scored a record 1,935 runs in the 27 Test matches she played between 1979 and 1998, at an average of 49.61, and her five Test centuries (with a highest score of 167) are also a record; she also took nine Test wickets. In One-Day Internationals she scored 2,121 runs at 42.42, again with five hundreds, and took eight wickets.

Jans one-day record stood until 2003 when Charlotte Edwards became England's leading one-day run-scorer during the 214-run defeat of Sri Lanka. In her 65th one-dayer in her third World Cup, Edwards' 63 took her past Jan Brittin with 2,178 runs. Charloote said "Jan was a very special player and it is a privilege to head the record table with someone like that".
