Jan Brewer

Jan Brewer is presently the elected Secretary of State of the U.S. State of Arizona. Because the Arizona Constitution provides for no Lieutenant Governor, Brewer is first-in-line to succeed Governor Janet Napolitano (D-Arizona), should she resign or otherwise be unable to serve as Governor.
Brewer, who resides in Glendale, Arizona is a Republican.Before she became Secretary of State, Brewer was Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for nearly six years. Brewer also served in the Arizona State Legislature for 14 years, first as a state representative from 1983 to 1986, and then, as state senator from 1987 to 1996. As senator, she held the leadership position of Majority Whip from 1993 to 1996. She was elected Secretary of State in 2002 and has served since 2003.
