If a page is complete nonsense, you can add {{nonsense}} to the beginning, and an administrator will delete it. It is worth checking the page history in case a good page has been overwritten, you can then revert it. Susvolans 07:11, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Union Executive

Several things worthy of note:

  • The Nottingham Union is just another union. It is certainly not on a political par with the Oxford Union or the Cambridge Union (though these shouldn't really have lists of their exec either).
  • Executive offices of the Nottingham Union are not high political offices. For UK pages, the line tends to be for MPs, MSPs, MLAs and AMs for articles, and local councillors for a mention, and only in articles on subjects that have a genuine association with them (of which Unions are not examples).

Ultimately, any idiot can become an elected member of a student association, and we are trying to build an encyclopaedia here. A quick glance down the list of candidates for presidency at any British Union will make this painfully clear. It appears that you have some sort of connection to Nottingham. While we always appreciate people that can write first-hand about a topic, it is generally discouraged to take a heavy involvement in articles on topics where you have some direct connection. Might I suggest that you take some time to explore the rest of Wikipedia for a bit? There's a lot you might be missing out on. Chris talk back 14:12, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

You're missing the point. These lists do not belong in a general encyclopaedia. Chris talk back 10:08, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Otley Run

Thanks for the notice. Not really my area of concern, I just put the Otley Run into the Pub Crawl category. But it does seem heavy handed for the others to want to delete it. And I fail to follow their reasoning. It seems that none of them bothered to do a Google on the name, and they assume it is a Pub Crawl of no interest! It's a fascinating place this Wiki - it appears to accommodate a number of people who know very little but like to let others hear their opinions! I'm learning more and more each day. I love it! [edit] Me again

Sorry to keep bugging you, but I was wondering how to get a warning/notice if an article I'm interested in gets changed (E.g. the Colchester article). I went on 'My Watchlist' but it didn't seem to help. Any ideas? PJB 13:53, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Cheers. PJB 16:33, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again, I think the info in the tutorial will come in handy when im writing stuff.

[edit] Woodroffe

Thanks with the Woodroffe article. It needs a bit more tidying up (esp links...there are too many disambiguations out there!). Ill try to flesh it out more over the coming months

I noticed the problems with the link about Fallen Angels/Sad Wings of Destiny too... I might remove the Fallen Angel link. Cheers again!! PJB 18:26, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Jamse

I was wondering if you could help me with something. The new image on the Woodroffe page has an text under it, which I want to add to. However when I write the text it dosn't come out in the box...any ideas? Regards PJB 12:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Its OK i've done it! PJB 13:08, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit problems

I was wondering if you've seen this message?

Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and logging back in.

On most articles I'm editing or even just adding to the talk page on, I've seen this message appear in red when I press SAVE PAGE, and I remain on the edit page. If I press SAVE PAGE several times though it usually ends up saving the changes. Why is it occurring and is it a big problem? I'm sure on the Woodroffe page when it appeared and refused to save my edits some text in the article disapeared (and no one has edited it out).

[edit] Bonjour!

Hi James,

Glad you liked the barnstar, its well deserved.

What do you think of the Woodroffe article now? I think its pretty much finished and I'm looking for a new project.

PJB 16:54, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jamse,

With the citations I've mainly got the info from Woodroffe's book A Closer Look and his Web page. How do I lay this out in a referance section in the article?

Thanks again

[edit] New Article

Hi Jamse,

I've tried my hand at writing a new article:

I was wondering if you could proof read it, make ammendments, suggestions etc? You helped alot with organising and cleaning up the Patrick Woodroffe article, so I was wondering if you could help to do the same with this one?

Regards,

PJB 18:01, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

PS. I'm going to add more on his exhibitions (Like the 'Selected Works' section of the Woodroffe article). PJB

Thanks Jamse!

The reason for the Italics/quote mark thing is because the books from which the info comes from does it, so I'll change that. I think Old Masters is correct too. Also thanks for the SoHo link, as I was sure that there would be an article on it, believing it to be Soho, not SoHo. I'll make the changes, as well as a Selected works section (that I'm working on now).

Also thanks for the Happy Birthday (although its actually on the 29th, but its not a Leap Year so I use today instead)!

PJB 19:46, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

A few other points...
  • I cant find a specific date of birth. Will this matter (I'll hunt around for one + a web link, if any)?
  • The 1942 in art link...I've put it in the DoB bit, instead of the standard '1942', that was there before hand. Should it be put somewhere else?

Last thing (for tonight),

I've stuck a new section on De Es Schwertberger's article (with a weblink and a link to his mentor, Ernst Fuchs (artist)). However I still cant find a DoB still. Its the same for Woodroffe. I've also got rid of those unnecessary year-links too. By the way, sorry about posting that message above twice...it didn't seem to materialise first time.

Ok PJB 21:03, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jamse,

Thanks for sorting out the reference section etc...I'll try to keep the set-out in mind for the future.

By the way, with the Rasputin article you can type in Rasputin or Grigori Rasputin, both of which will take you to the article. Do you know if you can make De Es and De Es Schwertberger go to the same article (most people know him as simply De Es, as with Rasputin). Any ideas?

Oh, and once I though I heard the 29th of Feb go past in the night...it turned out to be a drunk going past! Did you know that, according to the amount of leap year birthdays I've had, I'm just 4 years old!?

PJB 15:45, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

PS I've seperated the External Link and Reference sections in the Patrick Woodroffe article too, as per wikipedia style. Ok PJB 17:44, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Cheers! PJB 17:59, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jamse,

I'm putting togeather a Selected Works section (as in the Patrick Woodroffe article) for the De Es article. However it's quite long (as in longer than the current article size!).

Should I try to wittle it down to important work of his, or will that be PoV (as I would be chosing what is important enough to go in the article, and what isn't)? Alternativly should I just put in the entire section? I'm in favour of the latter, but I'm worried about its length and relevancy (after all on his website there is a compilation of his work). Any ideas (it's probably just a minor issue of detail, but still...)?

Regards PJB 17:41, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jamse,

I think I'll create a seperate page for his works, as I was a bit uneasy at leaving them out or cutting them up. I'll put 'notable' pieces of his work on his page, with a link to the article on his complete works.

Thanks PJB 17:12, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jamse,
I've created an Art Work section in the De Es article, with the Main Article template. Their is now a List of works by De Es Schwertberger article.
Cheers, PJB 18:45, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

Thanks for telling me about the JCRs AfD, but reading what people are saying, I think they are right, and as such voted delete. Sorry if that wasn't the outcome you were hoping for... Batmanand | Talk 16:59, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NUOC

Hi there,

Just saw this edit [1] - this was not a DAB link but a piped link - I do not think it needed changing?

Either way it does not matter but thought I would say so you did not waste your time. Cheers Lethaniol 19:32, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey no problem - happy Wikipediaing Cheers Lethaniol 10:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re : List of Executive Officers of the University of Nottingham Students' Union

[edit] Vice-Chancellors

Hi, unfortunately, at the time when I added the headings, there was not {{tl:S-aca}} yet. The only one of the at that time existing templates, which has matched roughly, was {{tl:s-hon}}. Actually I ought to have had replaced them by myself, but I have forgotten it well. So thanks for doing my work and the notice, too. :-) By the way do you know Wikipedia:WikiProject_Succession_Box_Standardization/Guidelines ? Greetings ~~ Phoe talk 19:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC) ~~
