[edit] Converting iTunes music to ogg format for use with Wikipedia.
This is the design of iTunes music - they are "burdened" with a Digital Rights Management system called FairPlay; in other words, they digitally restrict you from doing certain things, such as making derivative works.
There are a number of technically possible ways to convert iTunes-based m4a to other formats, such as ogg; this includes burning a CD and re-ripping it, as well as some DRM removal programs (See the FairPlay page for more details). However, the legality of using these programs is a topic of intense debate, and there's quite a bit of controversy over whether you can use iTunes music for any purpose other than your own listening. Therefore, use at your own risk.

- Znode,
- Thank you for your reply. I should point out that the music I have on iTunes that I'm planning on putting on Wikipedia was not purchased from iTunes. I just used iTunes to put the music on my computer, and it automatically put it in the m4a format.
- Thanks again for your help,

-
- In this case, try dBpowerAMP for easy transcoding.

[edit] Question re: Harvest (band).
I see that you noted that I'd already created the article "Harvest (band)".
Is it to be reviewed to determine whether it meets the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia?
How can I get this process going? Or has it already started?
Thanks for any help,
jamielng 01:43, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Usually we don't review articles one-by-one is such a fashion. It's usually that someone just comes across the article, and if it looks non-notable, it's tagged for deletion somehow. In any case, they have a mention in CCM, so it's probably not an immediate candidate for deletion. I would encourage you to find some other notable mentions in media outside independent of the band. Also, I have to point out that it's not really standard practice to upload clips of all their songs onto Wikipedia. You might like to reconsider that. Hope this helps, and welcome! [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Harvest-album cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Harvest-album cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Re:Harvest (band)
No, i don't know anything about them. I'm just doing some clean up of articles about Christian music. But I have an idea to improve the article: make a page for each album and just put the link on the main article. -Sucrine ( ><> talk) 20:38, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
