Talk:James Fitzmaurice (pilot)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I found this article interesting. I grew up in Massapequa Park Long Island on Fitzmaurice St. I knew that the street was named after the old Fitzmaurice Airfield a few blocks to the north of the Street (now Mckenna Elementary School and the closed Hawthorn elementary school), but I knew nothing of the history of James Fitzmaurice.
The two adjacent blocks north of Fitzmaurice St are named Kohl St and Von Huenefeld St (his two flying companions). You learn something new every day!
This is a picture of the old flying field from the 1930:

[edit] Interesting
Very interesting, not least that I share the same name as the man. Might have to visit that airfield one day...
[edit] Bremen Flight
The account of the flight given here is much more detailed than the one on the page dealing with the aircraft itself (Bremen (aircraft)) - should what's here be transferred to that other page? --Todowd 12:58, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
