Captain John Kidwell introduced the pineapple to Hawai'i and perfected a uniquely Hawaiian pineapple. Dole turned the pineapple into the most precious crop in Hawai'i today.
James D. Dole, founder of the Hawaiian pineapple industry, is immortalized as the "Pineapple King."
