Thought there really ought to be some more images on the portal page. So I've added one. - CharlesC 11:52, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Fair use does not cover images in the portal namespace or actually anywhere outside of the article namespace. We used to have images, but there was a crackdown on it. I was forced to remove the image. Sorry. K1Bond007 18:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

That doesn't work either, since it a) it would be a derivative work and b) it would use protected characters and other stuff. An amendment to the policy is now being discussed here: Wikipedia:Fair use/Amendment/Fair use images in portals --GunnarRene 22:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
