Jamil Sakr

Jamil Sakr (1948-) is a Syrian diplomatic figure. He is currently the Syrian Ambassador to Ottawa, Canada.

Sakr studied at Damascus University and has served as a diplomat since 1980, having fulfilled a wide number of postings. Sakr's appointment as Ambassador to Ottawa in 2005 came following a period when Syrian-Canadian relations were being upgraded and expanded. This is against a background of foreign policy dynamics which in each country are profoundly marked and constrained by the specificities of its internal communities.
