James Waterston

James Waterston (born in 1969) is an American film and television actor whose first role was playing Gerard Pitts in the 1989 film Dead Poets Society.

James' most recent start in three movies, Christy: Return to Cutter Gap, Christy: A Change of Seasons and Christy: A New Beginning as Rev. David Grantland.

James' grew up in New York City. James' went on to form Malaparte Theater Company with Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard, where he did everything from direct to take tickets. He formed an improv/sketch group called Circus Maximus. On the small screen, he played a doctor in a Law and Order Season Nine episode called Refuge. Currently, he has finished shooting a two part episode of Diagnosis:Murder in which he plays a hot-headed intern. He also shot a series pilot called Shrinking Violet.

James Waterston is also on the Board of Directors of Providence Magazine, with circulation in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. He has contributed photographs to the magazine. His mother, Barbara Waterston, is the editor of the magazine, which calls itself "snazzy, jazzy, sassy, brassy...not too shabby".

He is the son of Law and Order's Sam Waterston and the older brother to sister Elisabeth Waterston.
