Rev. Dr. James Tanimola Ayorinde more well known as J.T. Ayorinde was the first Nigerian General Secretary (and chief executive officer) of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (1960's). He died in 197x. Dr. J.T. Ayorinde served as General Secretary from 1962 until 197x.

He was married to Mrs. Mobola Ayorinde who was President of the Women's Mssionary Union of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

Rev. Dr. Ayorinde was a national delegate of Nigeria to the 1974 International Congress on World Evangelization, Lausanne, Switzerland.
