James Spaulding (born July 30, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a jazz alto saxophonist and flautist. He can be heard on the albums The Jody Grind, Purple Night,Components, Patterns, Karma (Pharoah Sanders album), and on various others as a sideman to such leaders as Freddie Hubbard and Wayne Shorter. He was also a member of the World Saxophone Quartet for a time.
