James Andrew Cheyne Ryan (born February 10, 1983 in Christchurch) is a New Zealand rugby union footballer. He plays lock.
He plays for the Highlanders in the Super 14 and for Otago in the National Provincial Championship.
Ryan was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and attended Christ's College where he was a significant player in the schools First XV. He later attended Knox College at the University of Otago where he embarked upon Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce degrees. He made his All Black debut age 22, versus Fiji in 2005. He has currently played in 7 tests.
