James Provan (student)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

James Provan is a 24-year-old student studying computer science at Aberdeen University. He created a video, that utilizes some stop-motion techniques, about making pancakes and published it on YouTube. The film quickly became popular, gaining hundreds of thousands of hits within three days. In addition to being broadcast in Australia and Sweden, it was featured on Good Morning America. The accompanying song reached #3 in Israel's radio charts.[1] "The fact the song is in the charts is the most random thing I have ever heard," he said. He has also created other movies including the highly popular "Addicted To YouTube" and "Barbados Rocks".

He recently created a new video, behind the scenes, Part 1. This video, twenty minutes in length, explains to viewers wht he goes through when creating a video. The link to the video can be found in GiR2007's user page on YouTube. See James' YouTube profile here.

In addition to this, James has also made a video called The Garden, which gained a high amount of popularity and sparked a lot of press, as seen in his "documentary" video A Crazy Day. His most recent video is Beat Souffle, where he refuses to make pancakes, making toast instead, as he goes into an instrumental piece created simply by using the sounds produced by items in his kitchen.

James Provan goes by the user name GiR2007 on YouTube, a possible reference to the character GIR on the TV cartoon Invader Zim.
