James O'Connor, (born September 1st 1979, Dublin) is a professional footballer. He currently plays for Burnley F.C.. The midfielder was signed by Burnley on transfer deadline day of 2005 for a fee of £175,000 from West Bromwich Albion.
Before signing for WBA in the summer of 2003 for a fee of £250,000, he played for Championship side Stoke City. At Stoke City, he played under manager Steve Cotterill who is the current manager of Burnley FC.
Before signing for Burnley F.C., he spent a successful three-month loan spell with them in the 2004/2005 season. During this season, he only made two substitute appearances for West Brom and so signed for Burnley to pursue first-team football.
