James Nelson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jimmy Nelson was a Scottish international footballer who played for Cardiff City in the 1920s and captained the famous Wembley Wizards Scotland side of 1928.
Nelson, who became the first Cardiff player to be sent off in a League match (v. Manchester City, in August 1925), was a member of the talented Welsh side that did so well during the mid-late 1920s and who won the FA Cup in 1927 against Arsenal. Nelson followed fellow Scottish international Jimmy Blair to Ninian Park and played alongside Hughie Ferguson, the talented goalscoring forward.
Nelson starred as a defender in the famous Wembley game where Scotland beat England 5-1.
