James Cassidy is one of the founding members of the band Information Society. He worked with the band from its beginning in the early 1980s until 1992 and the release of Information Society's final album as a trio, Peace and Love, Inc.
After the band dissolved, Cassidy left the music business altogether and enrolled in Mt. Hood Community College, at Gresham, Oregon, earning an Associates of Science degree in Fisheries Technology; he attended MHCC for two more years before transferring to Portland State University and then the Oregon State University, where he earned a Bachelor's in Fisheries Science and a Master's in Crop and Soil Science. Cassidy is currently a professor of Soil Science and runs the wildly popular OSU Organic Growers Club [2] at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
In 2006, he returned to the music business to work on new material with a new InSoc lineup with Paul Robb.
