James Turman Barron is an American journalist who writes for The New York Times.

He is a 1977 graduate of Princeton University and was a stringer for the Times while in college.

Barron is a son of James P. Barron, a retired analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency, and Leirona I. Barron, a former assistant principal of Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Arlington, Va.

Barron is married to Dr. Jane-Iris Farhi, a cardiologist[1].
