[edit] Climatology

He is most known for considering bets against climate sceptics. Many sceptics, including Richard Lindzen, have indicated they believe the scientific consensus on climate change to be wrong but when challenged to a bet their views seem to come much more into line with the consensus. However, a bet for $10,000 dollars has been arranged with a pair of Russian solar physicists Galina Mashnich and Vladimir Bashkirtsev [1].

Some people have expressed surprise that the odds offered are not rather better for temperatures increasing. However, other people wanting to bet on temperatures increasing have tried to find similar bets and seem to be struggling despite offering better odds [2] [3].

A brief introduction to his work and some recent publications can be found here.

[edit] Disc-brake equipped bicycles

In addition, he has also claimed that lawyer tabs on disc brake equipped bicycles can fail to perform, causing wheel ejection and subsequent loss of control [4]. Manufacturers now seem to be agreeing with him.
