Jamar Davis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jamar Davis (born 1983), also known as "The Pharmacist", is an American streetball basketball player who currently plays on the AND1 Mix Tape Tour. He is a five-foot-seven and weighs 190 pounds.

He was born and raised in Mount Vernon and the Bronx, New York. He grew up in dire conditions where his two brothers were involved in using and dealing drugs. As a result, drug users had made attempts to kill them. Davis was often fearful of going to school out of fear that rival drug dealers would also try to kill him and thus was forced to leave the Bronx.

Davis went on to play high school basketball at Mount Vernon High School. He did not play college basketball but continued his career playing for Ruff Ryders at Rucker Park and Team Uptown in the pro league at Englewood, New Jersey.

He earned the nickname "The Pharmacist" in 2001 from MC Hannibal of Rucker Park, because his moves were "morphine-based."

Davis made his debut on the AND 1 Mixtape Tour while playing for the opposing team in 2003 and later earned a contact to play on the tour. Davis credits the And One Mixtape Tour for changing his life for the better. He has been quoted as saying if it were not for the Tour he also might have turned to dealing drugs.

An excellent ball-handler, his signature move is to pull off a defender's jersey while still dribbling the ball and is best remembered for performing the move against legendary AND1 Mixtape player Phillip Champion (aka Hot Sauce).
