[edit] History

In July 2004 the Jamaica Rugby League Association was born, however they have yet to play a full international match as a stand alone nation. They fall loosely under the umbrella of the West Indies Rugby League Federation who formed in 2003 although at this stage Jamaica are the only nation within the West Indies who are in a position to potentially play international matches as an individual nation. In 2005 the Jamaica Rugby League Association competition featured five teams, the Vauxhall Vikings (Kingston), Sharks (Kingston), Jamaica Defence Force Warriors, St Catherine’s Saints (Spanish Town) and the Nomads (based in Jamaica but without a fixed homeground).

'Jamaica' are scheduled to play three matches in 2006 on a short Australian tour against the Australian Police from the 26th of February to the 6th of March. However the Jamaican team will officially play under three different names.

[edit] 2006 Fixtures

  • Defence Force vs Australian Police, Up Park Camp South, Camp Road
  • Constabulary Force vs Australian Police, St. Ann Polo Club, St Ann
  • Jamaican Nomads XIII vs Australian Police

Although not finalised yet, arrangements have also been made to play matches against Scotland and the United States in June, 2006 and South Africa in December, 2006.
