Meanwhile, Trixie tries to help Spud overcome his fear of clowns.

Spud joins Jake on a mission where they have to go undercover as students at the Huntsman's secret Huntsclan Training School. When they stumble upon Rose, however, Jake tries to convince her to leave the Huntsclan forever and come back to New York with him.

While using his Dream Charm to have secret meetings with Rose, he gets the idea to use his charm to access Rotwood's mind in order to obtain the answer key for a future test. But when he inadvertently releases a dangerous Chimera creature into the Dream Realm, Jake, Rose, Spud, and Trixie must work quickly in order to stop it.

Jake, feeling humiliated by his family's Christmas traditions, turns his back on them. But when he rescues a baby Sasquatch who was accidentally separated from its family, he learns the true meaning of his "lame" family traditions.

Out of touch with his Chinese heritage and unwilling to participate in the festivities, Jake volunteers to watch his Grandpa's shop while he's off doing his own holiday traditions. Jake's ignorance of Chinese culture soon shows its dangers when he inadvertently curses the magical shop with bad luck, causing a series of escalating calamities, including the releasing of three evil demons that wreak havoc on the city.

Jake and Rose are nominated for Homecoming King and Queen for their school's upcoming Homecoming dance, and Jake believes it to be the perfect opportunity to pursue his relationship with Rose. Jake is "won" at a school bachelor auction by one pretty girl. Though still in love with Rose, he gravitates toward the pretty girl, despite Trixie, Spud, Fu, and Grandpa's fear that she is the siren bent on Jake's destruction-when things take a twist.

Spud is bitten by a magical frog, and begins to develop cool "froggy" powers. He enjoys all the perks of being part magical-that is, until #88 and #89 come 'a magical frog huntin'.

Jake's loyalty to Fu Dog comes into question when he's assigned a new animal guardian-a totally cool hip-hop helper monkey. But can Jake's perfect new pet ever take the place of Fu Dog?
