Lloyd appeared in the 1995 film Unhook the Stars and in Jingle All The Way in 1996. He was chosen to play Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), marking the feature-film return of a character last portrayed by Sebastian Shaw in 1983.

Lloyd did not reprise the role in the next Star Wars film (the story took place ten years later); he was replaced by the older Hayden Christensen.

From 1996-1999, he had a recurring role on the TV show The Pretender as the younger version of the character 'Angelo' in flashback scenes.

Jake Lloyd's most recent film, Madison, was filmed in 2001 but not released until April of 2005. Lloyd was recently interviewed by MTV, and stated that he is again auditioning for roles.
