Jake Gibbs (born November 7, 1938 in Grenada, Mississippi), is a former professional baseball player who played for the New York Yankees as a platoon catcher from 1962-1971. An All-American quarterback at the University of Mississippi, Gibbs decided instead to go pro in baseball despite being drafted by the AFL Houston Oilers and NFL Cleveland Browns.^{[citation needed]}

Gibbs is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
In 1960, Gibbs led Ole Miss to a 10-0-1 record and were voted National Champions in college football according to one poll, the Dunkel Index.
