Jake Gibbs

Jake Gibbs (born November 7, 1938 in Grenada, Mississippi), is a former professional baseball player who played for the New York Yankees as a platoon catcher from 1962-1971. An All-American quarterback at the University of Mississippi, Gibbs decided instead to go pro in baseball despite being drafted by the AFL Houston Oilers and NFL Cleveland Browns.[citation needed]
