[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Jake and Rose are nominated for Homecoming King and Queen for their school's upcoming Homecoming dance. Meanwhile, Spud is trying to trick Stacey, his crush, into a kiss with him in the "Kissy-Kissy Closet" at the back of the school, which, as the name implies, the students have their kissing sessions in it. Spud plans to send a note to Stacey, signed you-know-who, asking her to meet him in the closet. However, when Spud tries to give it to Stacey by slipping it into the books she is holding, the note falls out and Trixie, thinking that the note was from Kyle Wilkins (the guy she’s obsessing over), she immediately heads for the closet. Trixie and Spud kiss in the closet, until they realize the other person is not who they thought to be, and both run out of the closet screaming.

That night, Jake and Rose work together to retrieve the last of the 13 Aztec Skulls before the Huntsman can steal it first. The last skull is at an exhibit in central park. When the Huntsclan is stealing the skull, Jake intervenes, and during the fight, he and Rose crash into a building. Rose removes her mask and talks to Jake about Homecoming. After that, Jake goes after Numbers 88 and 89, who have the last Aztec skull. Back at the shop, Gramps explains that when all 13 skulls are brought together, they can grant any wish. Of course, the Huntsman wants to use them to wish that all magical creatures were destroyed.

The next day, Rose finally agrees to go to homecoming with Jake. Unfortunately, Numbers 88 and 89 are spying on them. After the Huntsman saw a video that Rose was working with the dragon. When Huntsman discovers that Rose is a traitor, he blackmails her into leading him to Canal Street Electronics, where the Huntsclan steals the three skulls in the American Dragon's possession by holding Rose's family hostage. [They are quite safe but the Huntsman threatens to hurt them if Rose does not submit to his demand] After stealing the skulls, the Huntsclan heads to the top of the building where the Aztec skulls must be placed in the mouths of gargoyles to activate them. That place, incidentally, is where the homecoming ball is held.

Jake confronts the Huntsclan there, and, during the battle, the Huntsman's mask gets knocked off, exposing his true face. Then Jake and his friends battle the Huntsclan and the good guys are defeated. Trixie and Spud are no more than friends. Meanwhile, Rose betrays Jake and she hands the last skull to the Huntsman and is defeated by Rose, who tied him with chains. In the end, Rose double-crosses the Huntsman and uses the skulls to grant her wish, a wish for the destruction of all Huntsclan. Before 88 & 89 are destroyed, they quit and are no longer considered Huntsclan. When she herself is about to disappear, Jake wishes that she can have a normal life with her family and that the Huntsclan never took her at her birth. Rose then disappears. Jake smashes the 13th skull on the floor, enraged that Rose is gone forever.

The next day, Jake meets Rose at school. However, since Jake wished that Rose had never joined the Huntsclan, she had never met him. After meeting briefly, Jake discovers that Rose will not be staying in New York, or attending Millard Fillmore High, or even staying in America. Her father had gotten a job in Hong Kong and they would be moving there. At the end of the episode, Jake says that as long as Rose is happy, he is happy.

In the last skit of the episode, 88 & 89 can be seen advertising to destroy dragons, or weeds.

[edit] Trivia

  • An early draft of Homecoming originally planned the episode to be a dark and dramatic two-parter, and there were even plans of killing off a main character, rumored to be Sun Park. The Disney Channel considered the episode "too dark" and "too Jetix", and the episode was revised into a single, 22-minute episode. [1]
  • The producers of the show were originally going to keep Rose in New York in future episodes with Jake, but due to possibility of many missing watching "Homecoming", she was instead moved to Hong Kong.
