Jaffer Ali

Jaffer Ali was a world renowned papier-machie artist and entrepreneur from Hassanabad, Srinagar, Kashmir. He received numerous awards for his exemplary work in promoting Kashmiri handicrafts. His awards include one from the former Prime Minister of India, Ms Indira Gandhi. His grandfather brought the papier-machie trade to Kashmir from Mashad, Iran.

Jaffer Ali died in April 1975, leaving behind four sons and two daughters. His son Sadiq Ali is a leading politician in Kashmir.
