Joseph Aloysius Caulfield (May 17, 1948 -); The surname is pronounced (call field), is an American business man, inventor and author, and claims to be a student of applied philosophy. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Caulfield was the second child of Joseph Caulfield and his wife Jane Lisenby Caulfield. His paternal ancestors emigrated from Ireland in the seventeenth century. Caulfield’s parents moved from Chicago to Missouri when he was two years old. He was raised in St. Joseph, Raytown and Kansas City, Missouri, with his one sibling, Joan, an American educator. Other interests and accomplishments are wide ranging. He was instrumental in introducing various medical devices to the American marketplace to include the orthopedic total hip, the total knee, cardiac stress testing, cardiac rehabilitation and is an inventor of a light & sound device to modulate brainwaves, and is a co-inventor of a device to defeat the results of flash photography – US Patent 6937163. He is noted for his curiosity, his writings (popular, political and science fiction), and his diversity of interests.
Born in St. Joseph, Missouri to a devout Catholic family, he was baptized a Catholic, but early in his life left the church in pursuit of other knowledge, which led him to the label of “Gnostic Christian” or “a practioner of applied philosophy”. He spent many early years in the American midwest, but has spent most adult years in the desert southwest. Currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona
