Jacques Balmat (1762-1834) was italian. The Duchy of Savoy became french in 1861, until this date was integrant part of Kingdom of Sardinia that in 1861 became Kingdom of Italy . All his historical heritage is part of the italian history . In Savoy , french history is starting after 1861. --Shardan 16:33, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
