Jacquemart Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jacquemart Island is the name of one of the islets surrounding Campbell Island. It is located at and commonly listed as the southernmost island of New Zealand. Actually, this is the case for an unnamed islet 50 meters south of Jacquemart Island.
While Jacquemart Island still belongs undisputedly to New Zealand, New Zealand also claims territory much farther in the south which lies south of the southern 60th parallel. This territory, the Ross Dependency, is part of the Antarctic Treaty System.
