Jackie Presser

Jackie Presser (b. August 6, 1926, Cleveland, Ohio - d. July 9, 1988, Lakewood, Ohio) was an American labor leader who served as president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1983 until his death in Lakewood, Ohio in 1988.

During his term, he helped the Teamsters rejoin the AFL-CIO (from which they had been expelled in 1957 due to the IBT's massive corruption). However, he was himself charged with having been aided by the Genovese crime family in attaining the union presidency and was indicted for embezzling union funds and giving "no-show" jobs to organized crime figures. He died of cardiac arrest before going to trial.

A 1992 made-for-TV movie was produced for HBO about his time in office, called Teamster Boss: The Jackie Presser Story, which starred Brian Dennehy and Jeff Daniels.
