Jackie Harvey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jackie Harvey is a fictional gossip columnist for The Onion.

His trademark infelicitous writing style is littered with misspellings of the names of celebrities (or confusing them with other people), producing some interesting juxtapositions. For example, Robbie Williams is mistaken for Robin Williams, Stacey Ferguson for Princess Fergie, and Gandalf for Gandahar.

He often reports entertainment news several months after it occurs. His writing often contains unnecessary information about himself and his own opinions about different people (usually based on misinformation). His jokes are unfunny, while his obituaries are too maladroit to be reverent.

According to his biography online, Jackie graduated from Viterbo University with a degree in English literature in 1990. He was a writer and copy-editor at The Sunshine Shopper before joining The Onion.

Jackie has his own blog 'Harveywood', and his column 'The Outside Scoop', both of which are published on the website of The Onion.
