Jack Steer started his carrer at Newport county at the age of thirteen. Seeing his huge potential the then Cardiff city manager Lennie Lawrence signed him on a four year deal. At Cardiff Steer failed to immediately cement a place in the first team (largely due to his age and attitude) so spent the following two years applying his trade in the youth team where he formed an incredible attacking partnership with the now cardiff city first team talent Joe Ledley and Championship Live wire Cameron Jerome, steer himself scoring 25 goals from midfield. The following season at the tender age of 17 steer spent the initial part of the season making both resrve team and first team appearances for Cardiff. The FA cup hatrick he scored against Barnet that season also made him Cardiff Citys youngest ever goal scorer beating goodfriend Robert Earnshaws previous record.

Following Dave Jones arrival at Ninian Park Steer has been sent to league two side wycome wanderers to gain vital first team experience. Since being there he has made 24 appearences and scored 17 goals.
