Jack Steer started his carrer at Newport county at the age of thirteen. The following season at the tender age of 17 steer spent the initial part of the season making both resrve team and first team appearances for Cardiff. The FA cup hatrick he scored against Barnet that season also made him Cardiff Citys youngest ever goal scorer beating goodfriend Robert Earnshaws previous record.
