John Charles Rowe (born December 8, 1856 in Hamburg, PA, died April 25, 1911 in St. Louis, MO) was a baseball player for the Buffalo Bisons of the National League (1879-1885), Detroit Wolverines (1886-1888), Pittsburgh Alleghenys (1889), and the Buffalo Bisons of the Players League (1890).[1]

Rowe began his career as a catcher, but switched to primarily a shortstop in 1885.

He hit for the cycle on August 21, 1886.

Jack suffered a nervous breakdown[2] and passed away at the age of 54. He was laid to rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.[3]
