Jack Mann has contributed more to Western Australia's winemaking industry than any other winemaker [1].

Jack Mann was Western Australia's most influential winemaker serving for 51 consecutive vintages at Houghton Winery. In 1937 Jack Mann created the Houghton White Burgundy a flagship of the Western Australian wine industry. The Houghton White Burgundy was so named because the judges and winemakers of the time likened it to the style of wines from Burgundy, France. With its distinctive white label and its blue stripe it is one of Australia's most instantly recognisable labels and a consistent top seller.
In his later years, he urged his daughter Corin Lamont to replace the tables grapes on their Swan Valley property with wine grapes. The now called Lamont's Winery had its first vintage in 1978 with a Cabernet Sauvignon, under Mann's close watch.
